Structure
The IN-HOPPE Network comprises researchers, doctoral students, research teams at institutions in France and elsewhere involved in some or all of the fields of exploration; it is the expression of their desire to work together. INED provides coordination via grants and technical and logistical support. Isabelle Séguy leads the Network and assumes scientific responsibility for it. She is assisted by a Steering Committee that coordinates the lines of research and regulates the scientific activity, and a Scientific Committee that guarantees the quality and reputation of the Network’s activities. The internal functioning of the Thematic Research Network is subject to published Rules of Procedure.

Themes
The populations of the past are studied through textual sources and bioarchaeological archives. Some major themes have been defined and are supported by a cross-methodological axis.

General Overview

The IN-HOPPE network develops multidisciplinary and diachronic approaches to population demographics of the past, focusing on the following:
Exploit all available sources (textual, iconographic, archaeological or ethnological biological)

Shares methods and knowledge developed in various disciplines.

The Network mobilizes the skills of each of its members to:

Builds multidisciplinary teams, French and international to develop specific research activities.

Responds to tenders.

Organizes thematic scientific events

Ensures the transmission of knowledge through targeted training.

More broadly, the IN-HOPPE network aims to strengthen existing partnerships and create new ones.

Thanks to the synergy developed between different disciplines, the network wishes to renew the population studies of the past and the emergence of new themes.
